SC attorney general announces run for governor

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – South Carolina’s attorney general made it official Monday night by announcing his plan to run for governor in 2026.

After months of speculation, Republican Attorney General Alan Wilson made the official announcement Monday night at a campaign kickoff event at Hudson’s Smokehouse in Lexington County, his home county.

In a nearly half-hour-long stump speech in front of friends, family and supporters, Wilson highlighted the accomplishments of his four terms as South Carolina’s attorney general and outlined his priorities as governor.

Among them were eliminating income taxes, cutting fraudulent and wasteful spending, including at the local level and enacting universal school choice.
