The state’s top prosecutor, Attorney General Alan Wilson, announced a guilty plea from 11 suspects in South Carolina’s Devil in Disguise investigation.
According to a Monday news release, three of the 11 suspects were linked to overdose related deaths. Those defendants have been identified as Amanda Raye Massengale, Dean Morris Wolvington and David Harrison Thrift.
Prosecutors say Massengale was one of the main distributors of fentanyl in the case. Wilson says she was known for selling the most potent fentanyl, and that she described it as “the stuff that killed Elvis” and “tranquilizer.”
The distribution of the drugs listed in this case happened in 2022, and led to the overdose deaths of Emily Turner, 24, and Nathan Flaugher, 29.
