COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who is running for governor, unveiled new policy proposals Tuesday that define the role his lieutenant governor would play if elected.
Wilson announced that State Sen. Mike Reichenbach, his choice for lieutenant governor, would lead the “Families First Audit Initiative.” The effort would focus on examining state agencies to ensure taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly and not wasted. Wilson described Reichenbach as a successful businessman with auditing experience and said his background makes him the right choice to oversee the initiative.
“Government actors need to act the way business owners act — as if at any given moment someone can come in and audit their books,” Wilson said. “If government actors acted that way, then I think government would be a lot more efficient.”
