COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — Attorney General Alan Wilson, lawmakers, and members of the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force will hold a press conference on Wednesday to discuss passing legislation increasing penalties for sex crimes against children.

The press conference is set for 9 a.m. on the north steps of the South Carolina State House in Columbia.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the legislation strengthens penalties for sex crimes involving children and includes tougher punishments for repeat offenders already listed on the state’s sex offender registry.
