AG Wilson backs $17.85M settlements with drugmakers

COLUMBIA, S.C (WCIV) — South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson on Wednesday joined a coalition of 48 states and territories announcing two new settlements totaling $17.85 million with Lannett Company Inc and Bausch Health. The agreements resolve allegations that the companies participated in long-running schemes to manipulate prices and limit competition for a range of generic prescription drugs.

Lannette and Bausch engaged in coordinated efforts to inflate drug prices, restrict market competition and violate antitrust laws, the states allege. As part of the settlements, both companies agreed to cooperate with ongoing multistate litigation and implement internal reforms to ensure compliance with fair-competition standards.

The new settlements follow earlier agreements with Apotex and Heritage Pharmaceuticals, which together totaled $49.1 million.

These actions come as states prepare for the first trial in the sweeping cases expected to begin in late 2026 in Hartford, Connecticut. The multistate investigations, launched in 2016, involve dozens of corporate defendants, senior executives and more than 100 generic drugs across multiple complaints.
